Our Story

It started on the trail.

Easy Wind Outfitters started the way a lot of good things do . . . outside and with people.

Back in the early ’80s, our family had a small cabin along the Appalachian Trail near the Pinnacle in Pennsylvania. Before the trail was moved, it passed less than 100 feet from the front door.

Hikers would stop in for a hot meal, a cold drink, or just a place to sit and talk for a while.

What people now call trail magic was just part of life.

That connection of being outside, meeting people and sharing stories really stuck with us.

It still does.

We just wanted something that worked.

As the miles added up from hiking, biking and traveling, we kept running into the same problem: Socks that didn’t hold up.

They slipped.
They bunched.
They overheated.

And the ones that worked?
They all looked the same.

So we started designing our own. Something that stayed put, held up, and felt good to wear all day.

The Overlooks started with a sketch

as all our socks do.

Now we take it on the road

What started small has grown into something bigger than we expected ... and a lot more fun.

We spend a big part of the year traveling to outdoor expos and events across the country, meeting people and hearing where their socks have taken them.

From Florida to Oregon to Arizona and beyond, this brand has been shaped by the people we meet along the way.

That’s how The Herd came to be.

A community of hikers, riders, runners, and everyday adventurers who keep rocking our socks and showing up online, at events, and out on the trail.

Some grab a pair and head out.

Some come back every year.

Some bring their friends.

All of it matters to us.
